H.A.T.S. Rock The Spar after incredible performance by Mr. Blackwatch!![]() Being that The Spar is over 100 years old, it was the perfect place to write a new chapter in the history books... the first H.A.T.S. & Mr. Blackwatch double header ever witnessed by humanity! The Universe blessed us with a fine evening of clear skies and perfect temperatures. Mr. Blackwatch took to the stage and did not disappoint! The dudes were ready to roll, no doubt about it. Whether it was their stunning rendition of "Green Eyed Woman", or kick-ass and super fun originals like "Robot Bongos", it was a performance to remember, for sure. Their bass player is also totally awesome and looks just like the bass player for Hippy and The Squids! We can't tell you when we will get another chance to do a show with these guys, but it really was a great time and they are truly a very talented group of folks. Lead singer Doug Mackey and drummer Joe Wood even swapped roles for a song in the middle of their set. Talk about musicianship! Check out a few photos from their performance, courtesy of Tacoma photographer Lee Heath: Hippy and The Squids Take Over and Maintain The RockingHere at Hippy and The Squids World HQ, we were pretty stoked about heading out to Tacoma for this show. Each show has just been getting better and better, and we were 100% committed to being all mind-blowing on and stuff on Saturday. ![]() We were feeling great after our gig at Alderbrook Resort the night before, and it was good preparation for The Spar. However, the best preparation came from watching Mr. BW drop a bunch of bombastic tracks right before our set. By the time they were done, the audience was going crazy and we were feeling pretty ecstatic as well. The baton had been passed to us, and it was ON FIRE! Fortunately, we are well versed in laying down the law, and we were ready to declare war on air molecules that are unexciting by forcing them to resonate with our sweet frequencies. Our original tunes, "Ground on Which I Stood" and "You and A Bottle" generated cheers all around. Hoots and hollers of sheer joy were emitted by enthralled listeners after our smooth cover of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb." We decided to end the set with a cover of Supertramp's "Give a Little Bit," but at its conclusion, Tacoma wasn't ready to let us go and the audience demanded an encore!
All in all, we had a ball last Saturday night. Tacoma produced a really great crowd for us and we can't wait to return! Stay tuned, because there is a good chance we'll be heading out that way again soon! Thank You For The Photos, Lee Heath!A very big thank you to Tacoma photographer Lee Heath for the awesome pictures she took! You can view a bunch of them on this slideshow: Heading to Everett, WAWe closed out July with a great show, and kicked off August the next day with another great show! Now we begin preparations to bring the heat to The Wild Hare up in Everett. It will be our first time in that neck of the woods, and we can't wait to party down with a great new crowd of people. Keep yourself tuned in for updates on hippyandthesquids.com, as well as our Facebook page. We'll see you at The Wild Hare!
-Hippy and The Squids Take me to the Home page! Good Times At The Alderbrook ResortWhat a great crowd last night at the Alderbrook Resort! It was a beautiful evening for relaxing beside the placid waters of the Hood Canal. There were music fans up the ying-yang, and it got us very excited. Many audience members expressed feelings of titillation, and from that we derive a great amount of pleasure. We will never, ever get tired of hearing people tell us that they dig our show! It Feels Like We've Been Here Before
